THE CHALLENGE

  1. Understand people were not allowed to take pictures at the museum.
  2. How to get the young people interested in the antiquities and feel closer to the art exhibition.

SOLUTION

My concept is “simple is good” and young people love selfie!!

My solution was to create a camera-like App that contained diverse mask choices. Users not only take “pictures” with the artwork (Chinese Calligraphy, antiques, and paintings), but also learn about the stories behind the artwork at the same time. They learn about the art history through fun and interactive selfie experiences. They can even play with putting their faces inside the famous painting and “be” the emperor. They can create postcards to share with friends.

USER RESEARCH

My team members, friends and family are the main target audience. They would only go to the National Palace Museum in the following conditions. The first was that their kids had assignment about the exhibitions. The second is that they had friends come from abroad and were interested in Chinese culture.

The research points out that we needed to create an App with fun and vitality. Most people will not pay too much attention on learning interesting facts about the exhibition. Currently, it is not allowed to take pictures inside the museum. People would like to take photos to share with friends, usually on social media. This App offers numerous creative and fun ways to integrate museum images with their own ‘selfie’ image. This way, visiting experience will be an important memory.
